Garlic Prawns/Shrimp

What you’ll need:

  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 4 garlic cloves, 3 smashed, 1 minced
  • 8 ounces of peeled shrimp
  • A pinch of red pepper flakes
  • Finely chopped parsley
  • 1 lemon

To get started, add the smashed garlic to a skillet with olive oil over medium heat. Sauté this concoction for about 10 minutes, being sure to smash the garlic down to retrieve its juices. Be sure to do this until the garlic has become golden brown in color, and then discard the garlic.

Next, generously coat your peeled shrimp with salt and pepper. Then, turn the stove up to high to get the oil nice and hot. Once the oil is hot, add in your shrimp and cook for 2 minutes until charred. Right before the shrimp has been cooked, add the remaining minced garlic. Finally, transfer your shrimp into your serving bowl. Finally, sprinkle your shrimp with parsley and red pepper flakes.

Notes

If you’re hoping to avoid getting burnt bits of garlic, be sure to use garlic-infused oil. This is the best way to get all of that yummy garlic flavor without all of the bitter burnt ends. The best way to smash garlic is to crush it with the side of your chef’s knife so that it will burst open, but will also still hold together for the most part. To serve these, add plenty of bread to dunk in the remaining olive oil.
