Now that summer is in full swing, we’re all looking for fun ways to get out and enjoy the season. Luckily, there’s plenty of events and things to enjoy in Fredericksburg. If you’re looking for a new summer tradition in our area, look no further than the Fredericksburg Area Museum’s Sounds of Summer Concert Series.
About the Concerts
The Sounds of Summer Concert Series is a favorite around Fredericksburg, and FAM brought it back for another year! Every Friday night, visitors can enjoy free live music in historic Market Square. If you need directions, put 907 Princess Anne Street into your GPS.
The concert series kicked off on Friday, June 7, and it’ll go all the way through Friday, September 27. So there’s still plenty of fun for you to enjoy!
Every event in the Sounds of Summer Concert Series is set up for the whole family. On any Friday night this summer, be sure to arrive at Market Square by 7 p.m. That’s when the music will start, and it’ll go on until 9. Bring lawn chairs and blankets to make an evening out of it!

While You’re There
For kids, there are free arts and crafts activities every single Friday. For adults, Adventure Brewing Co and City Vino are on-site selling wine and beer every weekend. And FAM members get a free beverage at each concert!
Everyone will agree that the addition of Pifer Bros BBQ Co’s food truck is going to make this year’s concerts more fun. They won’t be there every weekend, but you can catch them on July 12, July 19, August 9, August 16, August 23, and September 13. Be sure to come hungry those nights!
When it comes to bands, there will be something for everyone throughout the Sounds of Summer Concert Series. Just in July, concert-goers can hear rock/reggae from 44 Diesel on July 12, Brit rock/pop played by The English Channel on July 19, and Latin indie rock by VaMos on July 26.
Looking ahead to August and September, you can expect to hear music from even more styles, like Americana, 80s new wave, Texas blues, and classic rock. If you and your family or group of friends are looking for a new tradition this summer, hearing all the great bands at the Sounds of Summer Concert Series is the perfect thing to try out!
