When it comes to cleaning your home, you know what to do. It requires a lot of attention and maintenance to keep a clean living space. But have you ever thought about putting the same attention and maintenance into your vehicle? If you have a hefty commute or have a big family, your vehicle is being well used and is most likely in need of a good deep clean. You may not realize just how dirty your car is until you take the time to clean it. We aren’t just talking about the inside, but also the exterior of your vehicle. Check out these tips to remember when you tackle cleaning your vehicle from the inside out!

Interior

The best way to start cleaning the interior of your vehicle is to vacuum up all the dust. Start from the top of your vehicle and then work your way down so you don’t have to re-do any sections. Wipe down the windows with glass cleaner and brush out all the nooks and crannies. Make sure you get in the air vents as well. You can do this with a paintbrush. Don’t be afraid to move things around. Slide your seats back and forth to make sure you reach all of the areas in your vehicle. You can also remove the mats. If you have leather upholstery, you may consider buying a leather-cleaning kit to keep up with the quality. Finally, clean the carpet and upholstery with a carpet cleaning machine.

Exterior

Now that the interior is clean, head outside and begin on the exterior of your vehicle. Use vehicle-specific soap from an automotive store to wash your car. Using dishwashing soap or others like it can wear down your paint’s finish over time. Rinse the soap off with clean water. Have you heard of clay-barring? This method is great for deep cleaning your vehicle’s exterior to get the embedded dirt and grime off. You can purchase a clay bar kit with all of the tools you’ll need to complete this method. Don’t forget to polish. Polishing does two important things, removing imperfections and giving your vehicle a shine. Use synthetic wax to finish your exterior clean and leave a high gloss look that will keep heads turning.
